Sound from void

Inspired by 432 Hz music

Zen Echo is a project inspired by the calming effects of 432 Hz music, which is known for its ability to clear the mind and promote relaxation. I designed it as a large wall hanging that visually represents the sensation of sound emerging from a void. The concept stems from my personal experience of feeling like I’m falling into a vast space, contemplating the universe’s immensity. The piece aims to capture that introspective, almost meditative state, where sound and emptiness coexist. Through its form and materiality, Zen Echo invites viewers to immerse themselves in a moment of stillness and reflection.

Hypothesis: Theorists and musicians claim that the 432 Hz tuning has better effects on the human body.

“432 Hz tuned music was associated with a slight decrease of mean blood pressure values (although not significant), a marked decrease in the mean of heart rate and a slight decrease of the mean respiratory rate values, compared to 440 Hz. The subjects were more focused about listening to music and more generally satisfied after the sessions in which they listened to 432 Hz tuned music. “ — National Library of Medicine

Wabi Sabi

With her preferences in mind: minimal silhouettes, organic forms, rounded details, and natural materials. I believe the wabi-sabi aesthetic is something she will fall in love with next. As a designer, it’s important to push boundaries—not always by giving clients exactly what they ask for, but by offering what they truly need or what they may grow to love

Wabi-sabi is a Japanese aesthetic that could be understand as following:
1. Zen of things
2. Wabi-sabi state of mind means acceptance of the inevitable, apprehension of the comic order
3. Get rid of all that is unnecessary, focusing on the intrinsic and ignore material hierarchy

Material quality of Wabi-sabi object:
The suggestion of natural process / irregular / intimate / unpretentious / earthy / murky / simple

Wabi-sabi embrace material poverty, spiritual richness
